Crested White Pekin Ducks are the most common breed of crested ducks. The gene (Cr) responsible for crests in ducks is an incompletely dominant autosomal gene that is lethal in the homozygous (Cr Cr) or pure state. When two ducks with crests (Cr Cr) are mated, the embryonic result is in the following ratio: 1 homozygote (Cr Cr) that die as embryos, 2 crested (Cr cr) and 1 normal (cr cr) with no crest. The percent of hatch is reduced by 25 percent and 2/3 of the ducklings that hatch will have crests. Since there is a lethal gene involved in producing crested ducks, special mating considerations must be made.

During the two weeks prior to Easter (March 30th - April 8th), all ducks will be $1.00 HIGHER than the regularly quoted prices.
