Order Policies

Minimum Order

The minimum dollar value for an order is $40 in live birds, excluding male only chick orders.

There is no minimum number of chicks you can order as long as your total order of poultry is $40, not including the Quantity Surcharge.

If your order consists of a very small number of items (less than the equivalent of a quarter of a box), you may be asked to purchase heat packs and/or extra straw to insure the comfort and safety of your chicks during shipment.

Any order cancelled within 48 hours of the scheduled hatch date will be charged a $20.00 processing fee.

Ideal will charge $30.00 for any check returned by a financial institution to Ideal.

Assortment Information

Assortments will be IDEAL’s choice of breeds available after specific breed orders have been filled. Every attempt will be made to provide the best assortment possible.

Sexing

90% Sexing Accuracy Guaranteed – If greater than 10% males are received in a female order of 25 or more, IDEAL will refund the difference between female and male price for all excess males. IDEAL makes no guarantee of sex when male chicks are purchased nor does IDEAL guarantee the percent of females in straight run chicks except that they will be boxed as hatched.

Boxing

All poultry will be boxed according to the weather, so the poultry will have the best chance of survival. Breeds and sexes will be mixed. Unless indicated by you, breeds and sexes will not be marked.

Boxing equivalents for one fourth of a box

Chicks, Bantams, Guineas, Pheasants, and Chukar — 25.
Turkey Poults and Ducklings — 20.
Goslings — 8.

Shipping dates

During the months of February through May, IDEAL will be shipping poultry Monday through Wednesday. IDEAL hatches 52 weeks each year and most shipments will be made on Tuesday and Wednesday during the remaining months.

Special services (per chick)

MAREK’S DISEASE VACCINATION: 0.25 per chick. IDEAL recommends that you vaccinate your flock only if you are mixing young and mature poultry, have ever been diagnosed with Marek’s Disease, or have ever had any chickens vaccinated for Marek's Disease live on your property. If you do not meet any of the criteria listed previously we do not recommend introducing Marek’s Disease to your property. The vaccine used is a live virus vaccine.

GUARANTEE

We guarantee 100% live delivery of poultry paid for. Please examine the poultry at the time of delivery to be sure they arrived in good condition. If the shipment arrived in poor condition, immediately notify IDEAL. Every effort will be made to replace your loss. We cannot reship replacements of less than 8: however, the cost of lost products will be refunded. IDEAL MUST BE NOTIFIED BY PHONE OF LOSSES WITHIN 4 DAYS FOLLOWING THE HATCH DATE FOR THIS GUARANTEE TO BE VALID.

HEALTH CONCERNS

Live poultry can be a source of potentially harmful microorganisms; therefore, precautions must be taken when handling and caring for them, to prevent fecal/oral transmission among people. Adults must supervise children when they handle poultry to make sure they do not put their hands or fingers into their mouths. Do not keep baby poultry in the family living space. Always wash your hands with soap and water after handling poultry.

**IMPORTANT**

Upon arrival of your baby poultry, read “TIPS FOR TAKING CARE OF BABY POULTRY” which is printed on the back of your invoice. Seller warrants that the poultry described in the order will be in good condition, so far as can reasonably be determined, at the time of delivery by Seller, who has exercised flock control, egg selection, production, and handling methods (including established sanitary and disease control standards) generally accepted in the industry. It is understood, agreed and considered reasonable that THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT TO THE POULTRY THAN THOSE SPECIFICALLY STATED IN THIS AGREEMENT, AND SELLER SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMS ANY WARRANT OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS OF THE POULTRY.

The seller’s liability for any reason whatsoever shall be limited to the amount paid for the goods or services claimed to be defective, and that in no event shall Seller be held liable for any consequential or incidental damages. By acceptance of the poultry, the Buyer acknowledges that the limitations and disclaimers herein set forth are conditions of the sale, and constitute the entire agreement between the parties regarding warranty or other liabilities and the remedy therefore.
